Does my photo leave my device?
Never. The image is decoded and re-encoded with the browser's own canvas engine. No file is uploaded, so the tool also works for private or sensitive pictures.
Which formats can I compress?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. You can also convert between them — for example a PNG can be saved as a smaller JPEG when the image has no transparency.
Why did my PNG get bigger?
PNG is a lossless format, so re-encoding it rarely saves space. If a PNG grows, save it as JPEG or WebP instead, or keep the PNG and only resize it.
