CSV Data Integrity Auditor
Paste CSV data and see which values will be damaged on import. The auditor flags identifiers that lose precision, leading zeros that disappear, dates whose day and month can be swapped, numbers mixed with text, and rows that do not match the header.
Paste CSV data or open a file to start the audit.
Questions about csv data integrity auditor
Does my CSV leave my device?
No. The file is parsed with the browser's own JavaScript engine and never uploaded, so it is safe to audit customer exports, payroll records or anything else you would not want to send to a third party.
What exactly counts as a precision problem?
A 64-bit floating point number holds about 15 significant decimal digits. Any integer written with more digits than that loses its tail the moment it is parsed as a number, and the lost digits cannot be recovered afterwards.
Why are leading zeros reported as errors?
Because the value 0071234 is not a number, it is a code. As soon as a spreadsheet imports the column as a number the zeros are gone, and there is no way to tell afterwards that they were there.
Can the auditor fix my file?
It does not rewrite anything. It reports what would change so that you can decide whether the column should be imported as text, and the full report can be downloaded as a Markdown file.
What does it do with quoted fields and embedded line breaks?
They are handled properly. The parser follows the usual CSV rules, so a field wrapped in quotes can contain the delimiter, a line break or a doubled quote without breaking the row.
